Hovercode’s free plan is a rarity: 3 dynamic codes with unlimited scans, basic analytics, pattern and eye styles, logo and brand colours, and a promise that it is “free forever” rather than a trial. Pro at $20 a month lifts the cap to 100 codes and adds 12 months of analytics history and a custom domain; Business at $66 adds an API, bulk generator, CSV export, 10 team members and GPS tracking; Business Plus at $168 adds webhooks, 50 domains and 25 members. GS1 Digital Link codes, used on product packaging, are available on all plans.
It suits a small business that needs three trackable codes for nothing, and a brand that needs GS1 codes. QR Studio suits anyone who wants more than three codes without paying $20 a month.
Where QR Studio is better
- Price above the free tier. QR Studio Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year for unlimited dynamic codes; Hovercode’s next step is $20 a month.
- Lifetime. $69.99 once. Hovercode has none.
- Static codes. Unlimited and free, with no server behind them. Hovercode’s free plan counts dynamic codes only.
- AI design partner. Not offered.
- Print-ready PDF and SVG from a phone. Hovercode’s pages we read name no export format.
- Offline. QR Studio works without a connection.
- Logo on the free tier. Hovercode’s pricing page lists logo customisation as a paid feature; its homepage says logo and brand colours are free. QR Studio’s logo placement is free without ambiguity.

Switching
Hovercode codes resolve through Hovercode. Up to three stay live on the free plan indefinitely, which makes a slow migration easy: create QR Studio dynamic codes, reprint at your own pace, and leave the Hovercode account open until the last print is replaced.
